Novel Characters — Exploring Education and Freedom

Bob Mayer had gone to an almost Ivy League college, one where liberal arts was the theme and secular progressivism the religion. Determined to get into medical school right after graduation Bob made a number of sacrifices and compromises so that the doors to medical school could welcome him unconditionally.   Fifteen years before he found himself the subject of a massive federal fugitive hunt, Bob was dutifully absorbing everything that his elite college told him.

Wait, you may ask,  who is Bob Mayer?   Years from the time of this writing, which describe his formative college years he will become the chief virologist at the NIH(National Institutes of Health) in charge of creating the annual flew vaccine.  At the moment though, he is just a senior in college.  He is in the process of applying to medical schools.  Through the last 4 years he had been diligent, studying to the exclusion of the vast number of activities available on campus. The only exception to this was that he had managed to maintain his taekwondo training.   He had not been able to improve on his skills, but he had not lost them.  The trade off was a 4.0 average.

During his time in school, beyond the science, for which he had a passion, several courses had made a significant impression on him.  These were, Reproductive Health 202, Philosophy 101, Russia Studies 303. and Constitutional Law 425.  Since, as a 21 year old senior his goals were clear, he had a great desire to please his instructors.  Doing so meant, not thinking for oneself, but absorbing the tenor and conceptual framework presented by their classes.  How he later came to hold views that were in conflict with those that were taught was a mystery to many of his colleagues.   As Bob reflected on those courses, his recollection of their tenor and approach amazed him.

Reproductive Health was a BIO 200 course where the study of the male and female reproductive tracts was taught.  As you might expect a lot of attention was given to the physical anatomy of these systems and to the hormonal cycles.   In this course, the time and effort spent covering female reproductive systems was about 5 times the time and effort spent to cover male reproductive systems.   Since those systems had to be able to carry a baby, this was not that surprising.    The process of fertilization and gestation was also covered.   Among the things that were abundantly clear from the course, was the message that as a zygote went through its stages from zygote, to morula, to blastocyst, to embryo and ultimately to fetus, it was no more than a mass of tissue.    The fact that this was a baby that was developing was consciously overlooked.  In addition,  the course worked in details about the coming population explosion and how if people kept reproducing we would run out of resources.  Actually, if you got the message you would marvel that a single meal ever made it to the table before all those starving people lapped it up.  The other message that was delivered in unambiguous terms was that humans were no different than any other animal when it came to reproduction.   The course made the act of reproduction simply an animal function.

Philosophy 101 was an eye opener.  The class read the more rudimentary and well known works from Kant, Descartes,  Locke, Plato, Aristotle, Nietzsche,  and Marx.   Thinking back on it Bob wondered if Karl Marx really belonged with the prior group.  Whether he belonged to the group or not the instructor, Dr.  Brubaker was enamored with Karl Marx.   His two great works, the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital argued for the downfall of capitalism and its ultimate replacement by socialism.    In order to get an A in the class, all a student had to do was propound on the virtues of Communism and use Karl Marx as their source.   As dutifully as he could, Bob made the case for communism in the United States.  Suddenly he was in the professor’s inner circle.  Years later , even though he worked for the government Bob saw how the government with a significant part of the system socialized through Medicare and Medicaid had destroyed much of what was best about being a doctor.  The communist radicalization of students at the most elite schools was a hard process to reverse.  Kids with no business experience and no way to see how communism impacted everyone were being fed this Utopian scheme.  Bob had seen through that after many years in the real world.  Even so that course had touched his life immeasurably.

Offsetting the Utopian view of communism taught by professor Brubaker, was a course in Soviet-Western bloc politics.  The instructor, Martha Olcott, though as liberal as the other instructors was a realist about Soviet life.  Ten years prior to the fall of the Berlin wall she was predicting the collapse of Soviet communism.   She blamed it on its corruption and implementation as much as on the inability of the Soviets to control a population that was made of so many unassimilated minorities.  She had predicted that the Poles, the Bulgarians, the Czechs, the Romanians and more would rebel and bring down the USSR.    She never really blamed communism for its faults.  Bob however noticed that centrally run governments seem ill prepared to help their own people.    It was much later that this idea of poor central planning would take hold in his mind.

The last course that Bob remembered from his college days that had made a huge impact was the constitutional law course.  In 1990, this course presented the Supreme Court as an all knowing self correcting protector of American freedom.    The constitution itself was this solid document whose tenets and principles were upheld by the highest court in the land.  It was a world where evils against the minority could be corrected and where freedom was protected most of all.  The idea that the constitution itself was a living document, where its basic guarantees could be discarded for higher moral ideals was never presented.  The people that wanted to disband the constitution in order to promote an unlimited governmental power were never mentioned as part of constitutional law.  Looking back, Bob thought that perhaps their view was much more prevalent than anyone had ever thought.  The justices had been portrayed as people of the highest character dedicated to protecting freedom first.  Witnessing many of today’s rulings, Bob had come to believe they had been compromised.

In any case, much of Bob’s formative thought process had been formed by these classes and experiences.   As he went to work and diligently sought to create vaccines that protected the populace from misery and death he had a warm opinion of this country.   He believe the work he did was a tremendous medical benefit to the populace.  How was he to know that opinion was about the be shattered and  that everything he thought of government was a lie and one that might cost him his life.  Nevertheless, I get ahead on myself.  For now Bob is working to identify and contain the next potential flu pandemic.

Global Warming – Absurdity — NYTimes — UN — Socialist

After 17 years with no evidence of global warming the UN and the NY Times are telling us that global warming will cause human misery beyond anything ever seen.  It’s not like the trend has continued and the evidence is mounting up that global warming is posing an ever increasing threat.  No, just the opposite.   In the US we even experienced one of the harshest Winters in decades.  Even James Lovelock one of the original proponents of global warming has said it is not cause for panic.

Why do the NY Times and the UN continue to declare global warming, earth’s number one threat?  (According to them, we are all going to die.)   Below are some thoughts on why this theory is being propounded.  Global warming …….

1.)  Provides government an excuse to tax industry and individuals for their use of energy.

2.)  Provides government an excuse with which to regulate or eliminate businesses they don’t like. (Coal)

3.)  Provides government an excuse to limit exploration of natural gas and oil. (That way we can give Ukraine to Putin)

4.)  Provides government an excuse to boost the economies of Mideast Arab countries. (Its happening.)

5.)  Provides government an excuse to monitor individual behavior. (tax mileage for example.)

6.)  Provides government with a ready made crisis to claim control of private functions.

7.)  Lets government direct economic development funds to their friends.  (Green energy companies, GE)

8.)  Provides government an excuse to reduce the standard of living of the more prosperous among us.

9.)  Provides government an excuse to eliminate capitalism

10.)  Provides government with every increasing power.

Global warming has not occurred in the last 17 years.  Much of the data that went into the original theory was proven to have been doctored in order to achieve its final conclusions.  Should it be discredited, the government programs, FDA regulations, the controlling mechanisms that government has put in place in the name of protecting the environment are also discredited.  It becomes clear what those things are, an unlawful seizure of power by the government.  The US government is knee deep in this as are the European governments.  It is a shame that much of our media, the NY Times among them continue to reinforce this naked power grab.

Musings on Freedom

Today was an interesting day.  Our family is fighting the remnants of a sinus infection and we are not feeling the best that we could.  In a perfect world (or at least one without massive government regulation) I could call my doctor and discuss with him my treatment options.  I might give him a credit card over the phone so he could be paid for his time.   He would then tell me to go to the pharmacy and to pick up an antibiotic,an anti-histamine and a decongestant. (Sudafed)  I would then (after sniffling, sneezing and clearing my sinuses.) get in my vehicle and drive to the pharmacy.  I would then walk up to the section on the shelf that said  antibiotics, select the one he suggested, then do the same for the anti-histamine and decongestant.  I would then take them to the counter, pay a reasonable price for them and then go home.

But this is not a regulation free world, nor is it free in any way.  Let’s compare the scenario above to today’s reality.  If I call my doctor, more often as not because he is worried about law suits, he will not just recommend a medicine.  Instead I have to go in and see him.  Actually he can’t recommend the medicine, he has to call the pharmacy and tell them to let me have the medicine he wants me to take.   The government does not trust me enough to pick the correct medicine from the shelves as I might pick the wrong thing, take to much or too little or even worse, I might get high on Keflex. We can’t have our sick people getting high on over the counter antibiotics  that would be terrible.  So instead we have this whole system where we pay people to approve a drug, then pay them to dispense the drug, and then pay them to track how much of the drug was used.  What a waste.  I wonder how many lives are lost because access to simple prescriptions has gotten so convoluted? I wonder if that information is kept out of the news.  Already the FDA has started to try to limit access to the more expensive cancer drugs.

What about the Sudafed.  It used to be I could walk up to the shelf an select an anti-histamine that contained Sudafed.  Now I have to go to the counter, show my drivers license and have the pharmacy check and see if I will be concocting methamphetamine from the Sudafed.  If I am sinusy more than 20 days this month I will be cut off because I am clearly a criminal.  Of course, traffic in methamphetamines  has not decreased, it just gets brought in from Mexico.  I however am treated like a criminal.  The next time I apply for a driver’s license they are going to look at me and say. “Sorry sir,  you tried to buy more than your allotment of sinus medicine.  We are going to have to deny you a license.  Please return next year and show that you are clean.”

Oh my gosh, I have a Sudafed record.  They are going to lump me in with those old people smuggling cheap blood pressure meds and Plavix from Canada.  No wonder our jails are filled with drug abusers.

Actually, the point is that this whole infrastructure designed to protect us from ourselves is costing us a fortune while actually limiting the legitimate use of drugs.  How many terminal cancer patients have been denied pot, morphine, or codeine just because the physician was afraid of what the government would say.  His prescribing habits are being tracked and monitored.  Once again I can here the doctor explaining the issue.  “Yes, I know you are in pain and will die in the next few months.  There is nothing I can do to heal you and the government is worried that you might get addicted to codeine so we are not going to give you any pain relief.  You could end up a junkie and on the street.  You will addict your family members.  No we would rather you die a slow, horrible painful death. We are the government and here to help with your every health care need.”

The current system already costs us, the consumer far more than a system that was truly free of government regulation.   The problems associated with inappropriate use would work themselves out with far less problems than the government thinks.  The cost savings would be tremendous.  Right now, the opposite is occurring.  Government regulation is impacting the legitimate distribution of drugs.  Life saving drugs that cost too much are being limited.  The motive for drug companies to develop new life saving drugs is being stripped away and less R & D is already happening.  Instead of a system that brings the best care, where the vast majority have better access to care than anywhere else in the world we are moving to a system that dispenses medical care the same way we dispense Sudafed.  If you use to much care, you will be denied.

The government won’t have to kill its enemies, just forbid them to get ambulance rides when they need one, or cut off their medical device allowance.  We are going into a brave old world.  This is a world where freedom exists only for the powerful that can escape the system.    It’s why Congress does not have the same rules applied to them as the rest of us.  Where is the Constitution when you need it?

Massive Tax Wasted In Pursuit of Leftist Agenda (NASA)

Why is NASA studying the rise and fall of civilizations?  Perhaps I missed something.  How does the National Air and Space Administration justify spending our tax dollars on a study of the rise and fall of civilizations?  Do we know of any alien civilizations out there in danger of imminent demise?  Do we have a colony on the moon that is about to become the next great empire?  Just the existence of the study suggests that this administration will do anything to justify further limits on what people can own, eat  breath and consume.

The fall of Rome was about a lack of resources.  Yep, not rocket science.  The barbarians did not have the resources and Rome did.  So the barbarians took the resources from Rome.  Putin did not own the Crimea, so he took it.  The fact that the US has had increasing food production for the last 100 years and a population that  grows at a snails pace means nothing when you want to take what people have and give it to people that did not earn it.  How on earth did NASA become a tool for propaganda?  Is anyone else appalled by this?

NASA and the federal government are taking our tax dollars and using it in studies to take away more of our hard earned income.  It is shameful. It has nothing to do with the mission of NASA.  If they really want to know what kills societies, it is bad leadership.  Perhaps whoever ordered this study should look in the mirror and resign before bad leadership kills our great nation.  Our leaders need to spend less time in never never land and come back to earth.

STASI — KGB — NSA

While the Russians are laughing and mocking President Obama because of his complete impotence and inability to prevent their annexing of the Crimea the President continues to employ the NSA to spy on US Citizens and on the phone calls of complete countries.    He disarms the US and wonders why Russia is grabbing land with no concern about repercussions.  While he completely disregards the constitution’s protections against government intrusion he is powerless to stop that intrusion when done by other countries.

The world’s formerly most stalwart bastion of freedom and protector of freedom around the world has become pitiful, powerless, and inept on the world stage.  We may know about everyone’s phone calls but we can’t stop them from doing anything. We gave the Muslim Brotherhood Egypt and Libya and that backfired.  We are giving Iran the ability to make nuclear bombs.  We pulled out of Afghanistan  and are handing it back to the Taliban who were behind 9/11.

Thanks to President Obama, who values persecuting conservative groups inside this country more than protecting freedom here or anywhere else, we are a joke.  We are unwilling to use real military power.  We pull back our missile defenses because the Russian ask us to.  We use selected drones but the real bad guys roam free and take over country after country.    With the policies now in effect, it is just a matter of time until more American die because Obama has abdicated his responsibility to protect this country from all threats foreign and domestic.

Actually, he should resign since he is the greatest threat this country has ever faced.

Abortion… Education.. Freedom

I do not understand why African-Americans are not furious about the abortion statistics in the State of Mississippi.  With only 37% of the population as African-American, 72% of the abortions are of African-American babies.  How is it that this population is being culled and no one speaks up.    During the 15 years between 1995 and 2010 over 39,000 abortions of African-America babies took place in Mississippi.  (Today the carnage continues even though in much of Mississippi there are no abortion clinics so pregnant women are going to Alabama and Louisiana)    How many successful, happy and productive members of society will not be there to support communities in Mississippi because of this?  Is this why so many in Mississippi live in poverty?

Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood was clear in her writings that her goal was to cull what she felt were undesirable genetic traits.  She personally believed that African-Americans were inferior.  Her quotes bear this out.    Even though some texts try to put a soft touch on this, some of the things she said could be interpreted as her wanting to eliminate “Black People”.   She known for her rabid eugenicist’s views.    No matter how you view the modern planned parenthood, it is clear from the results that Ms. Sanger’s views are being implemented in Mississippi.  Look at the placement of Planned Parenthood clinics.  In what neighborhoods are they most prevalent? The facts are irrefutable.  A whole generation of African-Americans does not exist it the State.  Although advertised as preventing unwanted babies, and a way to promote economic freedom, the result in Mississippi is more poverty than in almost any other state.

According the Annie E Casey Foundation 23.5 percent of the population lives in poverty and the median household income in Mississippi is just over $20,000.  The mantra from the pro-abortion folk has been that abortion increases woman’s freedom, makes it possible for her to get an education and keeps her from being held back by the burden of having a child.  Looking at Mississippi, which is just a mirror of the change happening across America, would anyone conclude that the promotion of abortion is improving the lives of anyone in Mississippi.

What about the argument that more women are gaining access to education because of abortion?  It is true that the percent of Mississippians with college degrees has gone up in the years from 1995 to 2006.  At that point only 18 percent of the population had a college degree.  The result is paltry and the education promoted in not leading to more stable lives and lifestyles.

It seems to me, that if I saw my community being whittled away by the encouragement of abortion, I would step up and say that this approach to our young women is not working.  They are not enjoying stable, prosperous family lives.  Their economic opportunity is not exploding into something that resembles success.  Their children are not growing up and adding to stable families and extended families. I would look at the message that killing babies is good for the community and I would look at the facts.  If the two do not match, change the message.

Planned Parenthood and much of the government today does not promote stable families.  Stable families destroy poverty and the abortion industry. They are not dependent on government and are less influenced by those in power.  They support their members getting an education and their members as they work their way toward prosperity.   True freedom comes from economic success.  Abortion does not provide that, it provides the opposite.  It drags the whole community into long term poverty.

Unpopular Facts – Cheese and Freedom

Years ago when my puppy was still a puppy he would escape out the front door or slip out under the fence.   I would have to chase him through the neighborhood with the hope of wrangling him back into the house.  So there I was, old and slow while he was young and on four legs.  No matter how much I called his name he sensed freedom.  He would stop, look at me, then head on his merry way.  We would resort to waiving a piece of American cheese to entice him near enough so that he could be captured.   After a while he caught on to that and even cheese would not wrangle him back into the house. The call of freedom was greater than the slice of cheese.  Ten years later,  after all this time being told that he is to stay within his territory, it takes a lot of effort to get him to cross even out the front door.    Over time and repetition he has learned what is expected of him.  Pavlov accomplished the same thing with his dogs.  He produced a conditioned response in them through food and repetition.  They lost their will toward freedom.  For a dog that is ok, but what about for an American?

The media in the United States has treated the majority of the American population just like we treat our pets.  By repeating stories with expected behavioral outcomes the media has trained much of the populace to not even recognize the truth when it is presented.    The mindless absorption of network news, TV talk shows, and custom storylines has been used to shape public opinion in ways that belie the truth.  Telling you that you have been manipulated is certainly not popular.  You may be the exception that not been manipulated by the barrage of media opinion, but I would suggest that even those who fully recognize the manipulation cannot completely escape it.  The effort to control your thought and behavior is constant and when coming from news organizations who profess the truth first, it’s disgraceful.

Much of today’s media view the populace as automatons, robotic sponges that will absorb the philosophy they espouse.  Often based on purposeful misrepresentation their goal is to herd the populace in ways that support their narrative.    One of the clearest examples of this is the concept of politically correct speech.  The idea that people should be able to state their opinions without a forceful backlash has faded significantly during my lifetime.  Now, stating an unpopular opinion is cause for vile backlashes and threats.    The media instead of holding up the first amendment is purposely participating in its destruction by reinforcing the idea that certain words are bad or that only idiots would believe in any form of creationism.  The truth of ideas and the value of their debate in society is squashed by a media that no longer supports the first amendment.  Limiting speech helps keep the populace in line and encourages them to support the media favored approach to government.

Below is a partial list of ideas that the media is now pushing.  I hope it provides food for intellectual thought.

That man made global warming is a fact although the last 15 years has seen no such change in global temperature.

That a baby, even at 7 months is not really a life and to argue otherwise is to hate women.

That there is no connection between a stable family and a successful life.

That people have to have a government benefit to survive. (The inner cities have had these the longest.  What does that say?)

That dignity does not come from having a productive life.

That the government knows best to provide for your healthcare.

That NSA spying on peoples phone calls without an individual warrant is not a violation of the 4th Amendment.

That the constitution is an outdated document.

That fossil fuels are bad even though we live in one of the cleanest most prosperous countries. (Horse dung was bad.)

That everyone should have as much sex as possible just for fun.

That taxes fuel the economy. (More people out of work now than in 40 + years.)

That the rich are stealing from you.

That you are entitled to something for nothing. (Eventually those providing the something for nothing will stop providing it.)

That communist/socialist states are doing well. (Argentina is in revolt,  people in Cuba can’t get a car newer that 1960)

That people need big government.  (Smaller government produces far more prosperity—it is proven.)

That guns kill, not the people with the guns.  (There is a reason for the 2nd Amendment.)

The media and government are counting on our believing these and many other lies so we will hand our power and prosperity over to the helping hand of big brother.  Freedom is not free.  If we do not stand for truth and demand of the media that they start reporting things in an unbiased, agenda free way.  They, along with your government will steal both your freedom and prosperity.

Watching While Rome Burns

My name is ….  Actually my name I no matter because it am one of the last Republican’s to serve in Congress.  There will be no more republicans.

When the Obama administration started to selectively enforce immigration laws, I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started changing Obamacare without Congressional approval I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started using its agencies to persecute those they did not like, I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started using the NSA to listen to everyone’s telephone conversations I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started using the FDA and EPA to create laws not approved by Congress, I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started telling businesses what they had to pay people without Congressional approval I said nothing.

When the Obama administration implemented Common Core and quit teaching the constitution I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started placing watchers in newsrooms I said nothing.

When the Obama administration through Homeland Security bought millions of rounds of ammunition I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started using the Obamacare death panels to deny treatment to their enemies I said nothing.

When the Obama administration started investigating republican Congressmen I said nothing.

When the Obama administration forced most republican Congressman out of office I said nothing.

When the rule of law, freedom and the US Constitution died I said nothing for by then it was too late.

Granny Gropes

In 2011  the 85 year old Lenore Zimmerman  was strip searched by the TSA all in the interest of public safety.  Now almost thirteen years after 9/11 Americans have exchanged freedom from unreasonable search and seizure for a program that allows government workers to inspect your property without a warrant, to rifle through your pockets on a whim and to grope children and grannies to their hearts content.  Surely such a program is worthwhile in stopping terrorists from boarding planes. So how many terrorists have all the invasive procedures stopped —- ZERO.

When I was a child and the cold war was still hot we were often told how in order to travel in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union the person wanting to travel needed government papers before they were allowed to leave their home city.    This requirement was portrayed as an oppressive limitation on freedom.   Of course that would never happen here, or so we were told.  Still today, in order to get on a plane, the government requires you to have your ID and to show your boarding pass.  Further, the government can stop you for no reason other than whim and ask you questions strip search you or confiscate your property.  This is all done without a warrant or any pretense of having probable cause for the action.   It has happened here.  The reason, or so we are told that this is allowed is to guarantee public safety.

What about the argument that we are safer because we tolerate this.  The Boston bombers came to the US in a plane and Tamerlan Tsarnaev traveled back to the US from the Soviet Union.  He freely boarded the plane leaving and freely boarded the plane returning to the US, terrorist training already provided.  Did our loss of freedom protect us from the Boston Bombers?   Not in the least.

If the possibility of increased public safety, (not real public safety) is enough to allow searches when we board a plane, at what point will check points be on the road.  Cars are both weapons and potential carriers of explosives.  Every road and every highway needs to be checked.  The same excuse “that it is in the interest of public safety”  is as valid in searching vehicles as it is searching luggage.  In fact, there are already cases where the TSA has searched cars in the airport long term parking.

The constitution is clear, there are to be no searches, or invasions of people’s property or person without reasonable suspicion that a crime is taking place.  In other words, no warrant, no search.  Nevertheless, the government now captures phone data, geolocation data, interpersonal connection data (who you talk to) , emails, and texts with no warrant.  According to the constitution, none of this is permitted.  The people in Washington, even those that have their doubts about these programs are unwilling to give up the power and authoritarian rule that these programs represent.  We are not stopping terror, only enabling the government future persecution of its own populace.  The idea that “public safety” justifies any constitutional violation is ludicrous.   We have almost open boarders to the south but our citizens are placed under constant supervision.  Does this not smell of totalitarianism?  We are living in the world that the government warned us against 40 years ago.

Government Lies – An Impotent Press

Ever since there was a government, governments have lied to their people.   I am sure that Vespasian told his people that the Roman Coliseum would be built it one year and only cost 200,000 Denarii’s.  (just a guess).   The fact that he knew it would most likely take 10 years and 1 million Denarii’s was never challenged by the Roman Press.  With an emperor, should the press dare challenge his word, it only happened one time.  We can find comfort in two places; that we will not be executed for exposing a government lie (most likely), and that our government almost 2000 years later, is still lying.

The question is not whether government lies, but whether the press and the populace will hold that government accountable.  In the past few years the American press has not held government accountable.  The constitution guarantees a freedom of the press.  If the press never challenges the party line then it both is not free and does not need constitutional protection.  Every time the press fails to uphold the constitution and their responsibility they tacitly approve of the government’s behavior and they lose credibility.  That loss of credibility becomes impotence.  In time they will have no power, and no influence and those that dare to speak up will be persecuted.  Below are some examples.

When the President said, “If you like your like your insurance you can keep it.”

            Where was the press?

When border agents are killed with guns provide to the drug dealers by our federal government:

            Where was the press?

When IRS agents are caught persecuting the political enemies of the democrats:

            Where is the press?

These three scandals are still going on yet the press does not step up and investigate nor do they shout from the rooftops that our government can’t be trusted.  All three of the above issues violate the protections provided by the constitution for an individual to have a right to their life, liberty or pursuit of happiness.   A dead border agent loses his life because the federal government wants to make owning guns look bad. (Not to mention what a warped idea that was.)  His rights are violated and the press just lets that fact slip by. When it becomes one of their lives it will be too late for them to stand up.

The destructions of people’s health insurance plans could have been predicted and prevented had the press done its job.  Some of these folks have lost their coverage after believing the lies told.  Nevertheless, the plan that stole their health security is still in place.  If the press did their job then that wrong would have been made right.   Next are death panels.  By then the press will be completely powerless to stop the wrongs.

The IRS pursued non-profits with conservative political views. The press continues to let the IRS do this as no one has been held accountable for this.  Of course, that is just a start, OSHA, and the ATF have also been used to threaten and investigate those with conservative views.  Perhaps the press thinks its ok when it is the Tea Party, but in 6 months when investigations are turned on those who don’t like NSA spying, what will they do.  In time anyone who disagrees with the government will be subject to unjustified investigation and persecution.  By not standing up for the principles of truth and by not holding up parts of the constitution the press is sewing its own destruction.

An impotent press, a cowardly press does not need freedom of the press.  The more the press sides unquestioningly with the government the less freedom we all have.  In the long run, there won’t be any press, only propaganda.  We are largely there now.  It is a shame.  Perhaps reporters should register with the government and we can use the constitution as a fish wrapper.  Our government already does that.
