Rome’s burning…. Is is too late?

My name is ….  Actually my name matters not because I am  the last Republican to serve in Congress.  

  • When the Obama administration started to selectively enforce immigration laws, I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started changing Obamacare without Congressional approval I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started using its agencies to persecute those they did not like, I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started using the NSA to listen to everyone’s telephone conversations I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started using the FDA and EPA to create laws not approved by Congress, I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started telling businesses what they had to pay people without Congressional approval I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration implemented Common Core and quit teaching the constitution I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started placing watchers in newsrooms I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration through Homeland Security bought millions of rounds of ammunition I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started using the Obamacare death panels to deny treatment to their enemies I said nothing.
  • When the Bureau of Land Management started killing ranchers I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration started investigating republican Congressmen I said nothing.
  • When the Obama administration forced most republican Congressman out of office I said nothing.
  • When the rule of law, freedom and the US Constitution died I said nothing for by then it was too late.

Got to go,  they are coming for me……

Evolution – The Theory That Became a Religion

     It is not uncommon these days for those that do not believe in evolution and the big bang as the origin of all life to be called names, denigrated and treated as if they were troglodytes.  Nevertheless, even though I grew up on a steady diet of science and heard the preaching of evolution as the definitive origin of life from grade school through college I have big questions. 

    Starting with the big bang, scientists explain that the universe we know of came out of this big bang at the start of it all.  In order to postulate that the big bang happened and that they know how and why it happened they use the laws of gravity and physics.  At the moment of the big bang, when there was just some universe sized mass inside of a pea there would have been neither the laws of gravity nor the laws of physics.  So what were the origins of those laws?  If those laws were not formed, did time exist?  If time did not exist how are we measuring time? When did time actually start?  When did the laws of gravity and mass get created?  Who created them?

     Wait,…. Hold On.  I take back that last question.  Science can’t have a who or something more powerful than itself.  The laws must have been created by the people that discovered the laws.  So, they created the laws of physics and then used them to explain why they existed to discover them.  Yet, they can’t explain why the laws exist or why anything exists. They can’t even say how the laws actually came into being.  Pretty flawed theory.  (Yet no other option is allowed in the schools.)

   As to evolution, if I mix a bunch of random chemicals together the result is generally a smoothy not life.  The earth, in its hot violent stage would not have been hospitable enough  for random chemicals to come together sufficiently that single living cells could be created.  If you take a bunch of things and let them arrange themselves, without outside guidance they become more random.  This has been taught as entropy in physics for years.  The idea of life from stuff by chance goes completely against that law of physics..   

    Just some questions regarding evolution as an improved state of the species.

If we have been evolving for so long:

  • Why are there stupid people? Wouldn’t evolution have selected against them?
  • Gay and Lesbian people can’t have children.  Wouldn’t evolution have selected against them?
  • Mothers kill their unborn fetuses every day,   Wouldn’t evolution have selected against that urge?
  • Whether 7 feet tall or three feet talk.  Wouldn’t evolution have selected against one of them?
  • We are called homo erectus.  Where is the next human species?
  • If we evolved from apes why do the remaining apes not evolve?
  • Why do we still get the flu?

Interbreeding my explain small species variations in an isolated environment but non of these creatures shows signs of turning into a completely new species.  Even scientists explaining the pre-cambrian explosion are at a lost to explain the rate of observed change and the creation of new species.  I would argue that there is an unseen hand directing all these processes.  Science could never admit that.  What a shame.

 

 

 

A Jewish Easter – The Gateway to Heaven

Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, said of Heaven, “I’ve earned my place in heaven.”    Given that only almighty God can grant entrance to heaven, that is a pretty presumptuous statement.  Still lets table that for a second and let me share a story.

When I was a child and well into my teens, my family celebrated Christmas with a big ole decorated Christmas tree that filled the den from floor to ceiling.  It was covered in ornaments, many of which I still have, and underneath were presents galore.  On Christmas day we would have friends over to celebrate the day.  Even our friend Father Wade would stop by in the afternoon and have some egg nog with us. Food was out all day and people would stop and visit then go on their way.   Since we were Jewish and also celebrated Hanukkah it created an interesting dynamic.  In any case, there was no talk of Christ, just the celebrating of a holiday like it was the fourth of July.  If I had died then and God asked me if I believed in Jesus, telling him I celebrated Christmas would certainly not satisfy him.  Having a celebration does not make me a righteous person.  

Easter would role around and we would again celebrate.  Along with the Passover feast (Seder) we received Easter baskets filled with goodies and candy.  I always got drunk by the 4th cup of wine.  The next question, does either participating in the Seder or celebrating Easter with eggs and bunnies make me the righteous?   Actually what is righteous?  

From God’s perspective, righteousness is a sin free existence, perfection.  As the psalms put it, God is Holy, Holy, Holy.  That is perfect.   Without righteousness, the gates of heaven are cannot open as God’s Holiness is  without evil, blame or sin.  Even the best of us humans have not fully upheld all the 10 commandments all the time.  That is why Paul said in Romans 3:10, “There is no one righteous, not even one.”    Don’t forget this is the interpretation of the scriptures from a Jew who at the time only had the Old Testament. 

So coming back to Mayor Bloomberg’s statement.  The idea that any individual is pure enough, holy enough, has done enough good things to offset their sins or the bad things they have done is preposterous.  Just the existence of the sin is enough to bar one from heaven as holiness and righteousness is required.  God, granted Abraham that his belief in God be counted as righteousness.  He demonstrated a belief far more uncommon than anyone i know.  Still God did give a way for all of us to enter heaven, by believing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  God counts that belief as righteousness.

Mayor Bloomberg believes he can earn his way to heaven.  The Muslims also believe that, even as they are killing non-Muslims.  Believing in Christ will produce good works (that is why there are so many effective Christian missions) but believing in your works will not produce righteousness,.  Mayor Bloomberg may have done many good things (banning big sips in NY) but God will not count them as the scales are weighed against his righteousness and his heart, not his deeds.  

I pray for all that you have an awesome Easter, and celebrate it for the sacrifice that makes holiness before God possible and with that Eternal Life.

 

 

 

Hyperinflation — Could be already here.

The government is printing money to by its own bonds, falsely propping up the economy and the stock market.  Germany tried this in the 30’s and it resulted in economic collapse and the Nazi’s.  Venezuela tried it recently and they have riots and shortages on basic staples. Go to the grocery, gas station or restaurant and it is clear that prices have gone up.  Some thoughts:

Thanks to Obamacare our cost for health insurance and health services has gone way up.

Thanks to energy policy our cost for gasoline, plastics, and energy related goods have gone up.

Our dollar is already worth less thanks to the government printing money increasing the cost of everything, particularly food.

According to the Drudge Report 86 million people are paying for the benefits of 148 million people.  The government is draining the work capacity of each and every American still working.

Why continue to work, when the fruit of your labor goes to pay for many that could and should be working.  Businesses and farmers complain that they have to hire illegals because there are no Americans to fill the jobs.   Pretty simple, cut off the $40,000 a year of government income going to able bodied individuals and you will have an all American labor force.  Hungry people amazingly find work.  

If the current path continues, Obama and the Democrats will completely destroy our country, its prosperity and the things that made it the best country on earth.  We will no longer be able to help our friends.  We are already having trouble helping ourselves.

Feds Fingerprinting Common Citizens

If you own 5 percent of a business that works with Medicare, Medicaid, you will have to be fingerprinted as part of a background check.  Does anyone not see how horribly intrusive this is.  Later when the feds want to find you, want to frame you or want to imprison you they already have your fingerprints on file.  Unless convicted of a crime, there is no reason a fingerprint should be collected ahead of time.  They have done this in the securities industry for years and you can tell how much crime that has stopped.  

They are collecting blood samples at traffic stops. Now the fingerprints of business owners are being collected.  There is no benign use for this information. It violates the prohibition against unreasonable search and seizure in the Constitution.  It violates the presumption of innocence our legal system was based on.  Does anyone not care enough to preserve our freedoms?

We are living under tyranny and if it is not stopped all our lives will become more difficult   Bye, Bye, Apply Pie, Ice Cream and Freedom

America Divided Will Fall

Our government, the democratic party, and it’s support apparatus , the media, has spent much of the last 6 years demonizing conservatives and anyone they disagree with as racist.  If they can’t be called racist, they are called haters.  They are accused of being haters of women, haters of the poor, haters of gay people and haters of the disabled.  The advancement of minorities into the middle class has been stopped in its tracks.  Some observations:

Minorities that came here 100 years ago did better with each generation.  They all faced discrimination at some point.  Then they became part of the overall population.  They became Americans.  They were helped by family until they got on their feet, not kept off their feet by handouts they did not earn.

Those minorities wanted to be part of the American dream,  not minority-name Americans.  

Today unemployment is higher among minorities and more people are living under the poverty line than ever before, yet the government is demonizing the same people responsible for hiring.  Given the choice would any employer want to hire a hate filled, chip on the shoulder minority. Nevertheless, the message to minorities is that everyone hates them.  The truth is that it becomes the minorities that    hate the very people that could help them.

People receiving food stamps are at an all time high, but government makes hiring new employees more and more expensive.

The government produces nothing but drains investment from business causing less jobs.

Still the focus is on creating a divide where people who legitimately want to improve the lives of everyone through the creation of opportunity are actively prevented from doing so.  Government appears to be actively trying to fail our county by creating a class based society.  They are making the poor and needy, poorer and filled with hate.

The true haters are the ones creating the hate.  Even in the south I have seen the few bigots I have met ostracized and corrected by the majority.  That was common 30 years ago.  Today much fewer true haters exist.  The creation of the hate divide will increase their numbers because hate breeds hate.  The longer the haters stay in office the worse off we will all be. 

Of Jews and Gentiles and History

This country is seeing persecution of Christians just starting.  Their voices are being silenced in the media, their right to not have to pay for someone else’s abortion challenged.  As a Jew I was raised on the persecution platform.  I was told that Christians were terrible because they were responsible for pogroms, the Crusades and for the holocaust.

Studying the bible, originally with the intent of assuring my self that Christianity was false, I discovered the opposite.  Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God’s promises.   The first 12 disciples and Jesus himself were Jewish.  I learned that the message of redemption through Christ was the truth of Christianity.  Those killing and persecuting others in his name are false and have never believed that message.

For me the only thing that would justify accepting Jesus Christ as my savior was  the truth that he was foretold and rose from the grave.   In my case the truth, the promise of life eternal completely trumped the overwhelming weight of history.

There will always be evil.  We live in a world where God gave us free will.  Along with that free will is the power to choose or deny God.  That is why the decision to accept God means so much to God.  It is faith given freely.  God gave us the messiah because he loved us enough that we are allowed to choose to believe, or not.

In many parts of the world today accepting and professing Christ is punishable by death.  True evil would kill others for their beliefs.  The greatest promise for freedom are the true Christians.  The greatest threat are those who would silence Christians.  Those same  people  would kill the Jews today.

The Cattle are Lowing then Being Shot

Lowing, that is nothing more than mooing.  Cattle just living their normal lives make contented or uncontented sounds mooing day in and day out.  It is a pretty standard existence for cows.  I guess the cows might worry about becoming a steak at some point, but I sure bet that they don’t expect the government to be slaughtering them just to make a political point.  If this were in India, government officials would be destroyed for even proposing such an action as shooting cattle that graze on public land.  Killing grandma ma ma just would not go over well.  Image

For some inexplicable reason the Federal Government is threatening to kill cattle in Nevada because the cattle wander onto Federally owned scrub grass.    It is an old fashioned range war, except that the government has no sheep or cattle, just a stake in the power and control represented by its ability to forbid access or charge for access to the public land.  The rancher’s cattle are being rounded up because they are trespassing on Federal Land, land which is not being used for anything.  Its land that the government has spent no money on yet wants to charge fees for, as if the government and not the people own it.  

The rancher’s son was tazed protesting the government’s rounding up of the rancher’s cattle.   Many others, neighbors and interested parties have come to protest this Federal power grab.  Like Waco, the government is poised once again to take out US citizens and United States bovines. Is it a dry run for future government intrusions into freedom?  I have a few questions regarding this.

If the government shoots the cattle will they process them for school lunches?

Would Michelle allow beef in school lunches?

How does the government own 28% of the land in the United States? 

How can the government charge people to use public land where the government spends zero dollars to maintain it?

It this a dry run for a much bigger government crack down?

Will PETA complain if the government shoots the cattle?

Will the ranchers be shot as well as tazed?

Will the government try to confiscate the private land as well?

Do the cattle know they are trespassing on Federal Land?

If they don’t know, is shooting them fair?  Perhaps they need to learn to read first.

Are the protesters going to be required to bring their own body bags? 

Is lowing considered free speech?

if lowing occurs on Federal land and the government shoots the cow does that violate the first amendment?

If the cattle are shot who removes the carcass?

All that ammo the government bought, is it about to be used?

How out of control is the government?  

Do they get away with this and the many other violations of our constitution?

 

 

 

 

Farmers Market

I just had the experience of creating a profile for this site and part of that experience was uploading a picture for the profile.  The Helena Image farmers market represents so much of what is good about the United States of America.  Its fueled by entrepreneurs, people creating things and selling them in a wholesome friendly atmosphere.  The fiercely independent but remarkable people that sell there are the best this country offers.  I really urge anyone who has not been to support this over the coming year.  

Kimaya Suni — Adopting a Country

     On the road, on the run, Kimaya Suni reflected on the path that had taken her from her hometown just outside of Mumbai, India to this nondescript hotel just outside of Georgetown, KY.    She had worked hard to take the pigeon English of her grade school in India to fluent English where she could compete for the research positions at the NIH.  After school she had stayed on as part of the H1B program and applied for citizenship.  That had been one of the proudest days of her life, the awarding of citizenship.  The ceremony attended by her friends and family brought tears to her eyes as she took the Oath of Citizenship.

     Her mind flashed back to an image of herself playing with her friends, wandering through the streets of Mumbai.  Her parents were of the upper caste and they lived an upper middle class life.  By Indian standards they were wealthy.  Yet, just walking a few blocks from her house would find her in the middle Dharavi of one of Mumbai’s most infamous slums.  The streets were  filled with squalor and multiple brothels lined the edge of the slum.  She had been with one of her friends when two guys, coming out of one of the brothels, tried to grab her and her friend.  What had ensued was a mad dash through the streets and narrow alley ways in order to escape enslavement or worse.  Her friend had run the other way and had not been lucky enough to get away.  Her friend had completely vanished after that.  Had she not been so skinny and managed to squeeze into one of the many small drainage tunnels that littered the landscape she too would have met the same fate.  She had believed the US never had things like that happen.  Now she was beginning to wonder.

    The search for her friend involved the police and many of her parents friends.  The police had always sounded nice but to her 10 year old ears there was something off about how they sounded.   She had always thought they were more involved in not finding her friend than in actually locating her.   It was one of those experiences that shape people.  It had made her a believer in the ideals of America.  Over time, watching the US government, her faith in those ideals had been shaken but still America was a wonderful place, freer than anywhere else in the world.  Even the NSA spying and Edward Snowden had not changed her mind.  Of course being hunted as a fugitive and wild beast was not how she expected the ideals of freedom to be played out.  She now understood how Snowden must have felt.   Moving to Russia is not out of the question.
